Dylan Strome to Caps, 1 x 3.5M

Backstrom may be done. Rumor that Caps were in on Miller as a replacement but price was likely too high.

oof i would've just asked Canucks to retain to bring is AVV down to 3.5m and just paid. I guess they know they aint gonna be a threat to pay some assets for the year & extension rights of Miller and rather just roll with Strome for free

And yes, I think it’s also clear he held a big grudge for Treliving and his last negotiations. Sure as hell looked like he wanted to burn him. I don’t think leaving 17m on the table means it was a late decision at all now, with hindsight on it all.

That’s the other option, that he went UFA and flyers said no thanks and so he got stuck in Ohio, lel

IMO they should still be after Miller. They can fit him with retention and have a scary forward group.

carolina should pay up and go for it, adding 100pt for 2.6m caphit and they got 4m with all the free additions they added lol

i dont trust Kotkaniemi to be their 2c. Much more scary with Miller/Aho 1-2 down the middle

Necas + Coghlan they just got for free + 1st lets goooo

I think Carolina is going into the season hoping one of KK or Necas takes a step and grabs onto that 2C spot.

Until they both fail at it I don't see Carolina making that move. Makes sense for them to wait and see how it plays out before they blow their load.

ya for sure, but

Necas has been in their doghouse for a while now, and they moved him to wing despite KK being meh and trocheck being there. So he's basically smurfing on the 4th line/bottom 6 haha maybe they'll give him a fresh start this year but we'll see if he can replace trocheck's void

i also highly doubt they would also want to give up a shiny new toy they just got from vegas, but fk it if it's a good chance to compete for the cup, it's a small price to pay since they got it as a sweetner from vegas.

So really, they're giving up their 1st which will most likely be 26-32 range in a deep draft, necas that isn't as helpful/efficient for them than Miller would be.

They'll probably wait near the deadline like you said before paying, but if Miller gets hurt gg and it doesn't hurt to form a chemistry from early in the season than from deadline to playoffs.

8 x 7.95 for Norris

On one hand it's a fine price for your long-term 1C and he will probably earn the contract.

On the other hand, he's done nothing in the league so I don't see how the Sens couldn't get it a bit cheaper. At least Thomas already has a PPG season under his belt.

Fuck that’s an overpayment. Don’t get me wrong I’m glad he locked up, but long term he is our 2C and will be surpassed by Stutzle.

Now I’m worried about Stutzle and Debrincat extensions..

I think Norris is worth about a 6.5m aav so I expected him to come in around 7-7.25 or something
