The Linden thing about having a "core" we can win with pretty much just means that we'll have the Sedins on the team regardless of what happens.
If you can trade Kesler then nobody else is really considered a "core" player on our team besides the Sedins and Bieksa. I guess Edler too but there's already been so much talk of moving him.

Was just told [Willie] Desjardins spurned #Pens b/c offer was for 2 years only, no authority to hire own assts. Now expected to be hired by #Canucks

This is awesome :D

IMO Garrison and Hamhuis are a part of the core too, just because they have NTCs and probably won't want to move away from home.

Unfortunately our entire over-the-hill core has an NTC.

I think our core group have become very good friends, so it would be hard to get anyone to waive a ntc. They probably like the city as well.

However if it is clear the team wants to go in a younger direction and the playoffs do not look like a possibility they may be willing to go for a chance to play on a contender.

Yeah they are a tight group. I think it's hard for them to admit they've failed and their window has closed. They might be open to leaving when it's obvious we're rebuilding but it seems they may just ride it out. We know the Sedins aren't going anywhere and Bieksa actually said he's "going down with the ship".

Kesler is the only smart one who's getting out while he can still help another team win now. Would be nice if Hamhuis, Garrison and Bieksa felt the same way but can't really blame 'em. Imagine the collective return

I'm fine with bieksa staying. He's a good character guy. It'll be good for the younger players. Edler garrison and Hamhuis can all leave though

Pretty much this.

Bieksa is also a crowd favourite. He's worth more here than anywhere else.

If we miss the playoffs this year I'd expect a firesale.

Don Cherry has inflated Bieksa's value over the years. If we were to blow it up, Bieksa would probably fetch a decent amount ;D
