I'd would still go with an AMD
you can't beat the price/perfo it gives you and it let you spend more money on the video card/ram/etc
all you need is an after market cooling fan because that thing will get HOT if you run big game


and unless you need it in like 6 months, the price will not change much

you'll end up with some quad core, 3.4 ghz, 8 mb instead of 8 core, 4.0 ghz 16 mb
all you need is a 20-40$ after market cooling fan and you're ok

and let's be honest, some big ol cpu fan in a computer case with a clear side, looks bad ass

if you don't feel confident and have the budget, go with an intel
you better like what you buy, espicially if you spend nearly 1.5k on it :P
