you know if someone from the core gets traded they will be great in the playoffs, that just always happens with us.

Leafs have a ridiculous amount of cap tied on just four forwards and they aren't picking high enough to have consistent ELC/bridges. They have to move Tavares or Marner to make room for cost-controlled depth or another Top 4 defenseman.

Leafs are so fucked by the cap, they will only get worse once they lose some guys

I don't think they can realistically move Tavares with that cap hit, it would need to be Marner

They let go of Lou at the worst time.

Major, decade-defining contracts came up and they decided to give it to the kid instead of the vet that is known to play hardball.

yeah Marner looks like the odd man out. Can't lose Matthews, Tavares won't net that much value and Nylander has cost-control the Leafs sorely need. although if someone were to give a king's ransom for Matthews you'd need to consider it.
