i havnt seen georgiev play much but apparently hes good enough to be a 1b and the rangers werent willing to pay for that
a lot of analysts and media and what not at the deadline thought he was going to be moved to a contender needing a goalie



this haha if hes a 1b guy thats probably an upgrade and on the avs hes probably more like a 1a guy

i guess they didnt wanna be left with no goalie, considering there isn't much choice...

I just haven't watched him enough I guess. Seemed like he struggled when he became backup and didnt take becoming a backup mentally very well. Saying that, I have full confidence in Frankie going into next year.

Sakic out here giving up on the 2022 draft. Avs don't own a pick until 6th round now.

The more I look at it, I'm okay with it. Theyll be paying under 6mil for 2 1a1b options (is the hope) where as Kuemps is going to demand around 6.5mil himself. Sakic held his ground last year with Grubauer and even tho it cost him a questionable prospect and a #1 , he managed to only pay 5.5m for both of our goalies last year(with yotes retaining 50% of kuemps contract). Avs have proved they don't need amazing goaltending to win, only need something above average. Frankie went 6-0 in the playoffs

It'll also give Sakic the required money to replace some key players we will be losing. They need at least 1 top 6 and 2 bottom 6 in FA assuming they can retain ChooChoo

Probably the main reason avs didn't go b2b2b champs has been questionable/inconsistent goaltending. I could care less about the draft.
