Our coach should be named soon now that the playoffs have ended.

Candidates that we know of...

John Stevens: 2 Stanley Cups as Kings assistant coach and head coach with the Flyers where he made the playoffs in both his two full seasons behind the bench (3rd round once).

Willie Desjardins: Former assistant coach of the Stars and the current head coach of their AHL affiliate Texas Stars who are in the AHL finals. Also took the Medicine Hat Tigers to the WHL finals and won coach of the year.

Mike Johnston: Former assistant coach of the Kings and our Canucks. Has lost both in the WHL and Memorial Cup Finals as head coach and general manager of the Portland Winterhawks.

Dan Bylsma: Stanley Cup and NHL coach of the year winner as head coach of the Penguins and silver medal winner as head coach of Team USA at the Olympics. Has also been an assistant with the Islanders and head coach in the AHL.

Marc Crawford: Former Canucks coach during the WCE days, Stanley Cup winner as head coach of the Avalanche, NHL coach of the year winner, AHL coach of the year winner and Team Canada head coach at the Olympics. Has been out of the league for 3 years after being let go as the Stars head coach.

Probably more, these are the ones I've heard/read about.

There are actually some rumors that Sutter might step away soon :O In that case, Stevens will likely stick around and get promoted to HC with the Kings.

Texas Stars win the Calder Cup. Willie Desjardins is free to become our coach now :P

Mackenzie says we'll be interviewing Bylsma soon, but there are also reports that he's a finalist for the Florida job.

Canucks also interviewed Peter Horachek.

Unless something goes haywire, a coach will be named sometime between June 28 and July 1.
