hextall normally isnt the guy to do the 7 game trial or whatever but it seems he is as hes only said a few are 100% and right now sanheim and morin seem to be fighting for the same spot
Okay let me break it down to you...
Matt Read was waived because of Ghost's injury. Hextall wasn't sure if he was going to be able to play on the west coast so they had to bring 8 defenseman just in case because you are not going to be able to get an emergency call up from Leigh to fly to San Jose in 6 hours.
My guess is once they get back from the trip they will send Sanheim down and bring back Read. Lehtora and Read will be the healthy scratches along with a rotation with the 7 defenseman. My guess is Manning will be the odd man out if he struggles. They are paying MacD a lot of money and people who don't know hockey like to say he is terrible, but the fact is last year he was much improved and a solid 4th d on a playoff team. He was no worse than Matt Carle during our Cup Run.
