I'm excited as well. Nice to have a guy who comes from a scouting and player personnel background. He's a talent evaluator and that's exactly what we need for a GM.

Just a heads up, they are pretty much identical. The same questions and the same answers.

Some notes:

- Both Linden and Benning feel like they can still win with this core. Still want to get younger, but no rebuild coming.

- Willing to ask players to waive their NTCs.

- Want to play a puck-possession, up-tempo style.

- Wants the bottom-6 to be more physical and there will be an emphasis on having a balanced 4-line team.

- They feel good about both Lack and Markstrom but not really clear if they want to add to and/or change the goalie situation.

- They both want to keep Kesler if he is willing to stay.

- Sounds like the scouting staff won't be revamped. Instead, Benning will try to work with and  educate them on what he's looking for and what they should be looking for.

- Looks like Lorne Henning, Laurence Gllman and Stan Smyl will all retain their positions.

Whoever scouts the WHL needs to get fired.

Ugh, and this is why the deadline last year was a failure. You wont get more for him at the draft than you would have last year at the deadline. Fuck.

I don't know, I don't think it's that big of a deal. Can still get fair value for him, I can't believe teams were overpaying at the deadline. We saw Anaheim's offer (who were apparently close to acquiring him), it wasn't exactly tantalizing.

from what i understand the trade deadline stalled out because he didnt get traded, everyone kinda was waiting around for that

Yeah, that's what seemed to happen. Teams were waiting for Kesler's trade to "set the price" but it never happened and then time ran out lol.

Linden gave Edler a vote of confidence. He feels (or at least he said in the media) that Edler can return to top-pairing form. In any case, good idea not to trade him while his value is at an all-time low. Probably not possible for him to have a worse season than he did this year.

Kesler's situation is still unclear. Benning and Linden want to keep him, but they won't really give out too much info. They just keep repeating that they'll find a solution that will make both sides happy, whatever that means. From the outside it seems like Kesler still wants out, let's hope for that anyway.

Lots of talk about Benning trying hard to move up in the draft. Apparently he's in love with BC boy Reinhart, who's projected to go in the top 3.

Reinhart is a total stud. Florida has also advertised that their #1 pick is for sale.
