51 points / 82 gp over his last 3 seasons. That's worth 5 million regardless of "narrative". By all accounts, Seattle fans have been happy with him.

He's lucky he even became anything with the way Benning mishandled his development.

He's definitely lucky that he figured it out, and if he stayed with the nucks he definitely wouldn't be the player he is today. He finally figured it out playing behind Crosby and Malkin, or at times with them, cuz he can't act like an entitled star with someone as accomplished as those 2 VS his time here or with Florida.

5x5 for a center/winger that's theoretically on pace for 51pts for full season that can't win you faceoffs, can't pk, can't be trusted, can't drive/set up plays for his teammates, not even top 5 in toi on the team. But at least he's a good finisher and he better be cuz he often gets easier deployment than his teammates.

Compare him to horvat, far more accomplished prior to signing his 5.5x6, can win faceoffs/trusted/etc. Nvm just the pts. But sure I guess being on pace for 50pts in a full season makes it worth regardless jaja

Seattle fans can be happy all they want, just like when Ron decided to draft worse players for the sake of cap space and then commit to grub  after signing Dreger then be like =o?!

same guy posted a player card of sanheim looking like the best d man in the league https://twitter.com/JFreshHockey/status/1501934253818322952
sanheims been really up and down ive never been a big fan due to his inconsistencies but hes always had great analytics and people says hes our best d man because of that yet he doesnt even play on the 1st pair over provorov?
i think people put too much faith in analytics tbh

and it says this is over a 3 year average including 2 seasons in buffalo and this season with half of the flyers hurt no shit his analytics are going to look bad
risto has like 20% higher competition probably from when he was 1st pair in buffalo vs sanheims sheltered 2nd line in philly

id be curious to see ristos stats for just this season in philly even wth the team hurt cause he certainly passes the eye test most nights and i dont mind this contract at all

That's cuz most people just look at visual colorful bars without any context and actually understand what they're looking at. Chris tanev is a perfect example of this, only the Canucks fan knew that he's one of the best defensive dman in the league just on a crappy defensive team, but the analysis will only show that he's decent defensively cuz canucks always bled shots generally and just much less with him on the ice. It showed him ddclining, especially skewering his numbers more cuz he could barely stay healthy from the way he plays, taking hits to make plays or blocking a lot of pucks. He gets a new gear to protect himself better and finally played his full season in a while, but sadly the last with the nucks. Now that he's on a much better defensive team, he's practically smurfing and ofc the analysis will no longer show he is declining, and go against their 3 to 5 year prediction of him being a replacement lvl player as he gets older.

I know these charts aren't the be-all but by pretty much all accounts, he's a good player.

Just because Benning ruined his development, gave up on him early because of it, and then spread the "off-ice issues" rumor to justify it, doesn't mean he's not good.

The Carolina Hurricanes have agreed to terms with forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi to what is believed to be an eight-year deal worth around $38.5 million or $4.82 million per season.

The contract cannot be made official until after the trade deadline. https://t.co/KKv2w5PMtZ

that's a huge gamble on a guy who's getting 10 minutes/night right now.

The owner wants to make sure he can stick it to the Habs though. Different kinda victory.

He's been playing a limited role but with Trocheck likely walking this summer as a UFA, he's slotted to be their 2C next season.

I guess they're pretty confident he's going to tap into that potential that got him selected 3rd overall.

Or they're trying really hard to justify that offer sheet.

I think it's going to be in between

the AAV isn't the worst, he'll probably underperform slightly for most of it, probably be worth it for 2-3 seasons. At best I think it's an ok contract, I don't see that guy playing like a 5m+ player putting up 50+ points
