Didn't move any spots in the draft, we keep the 6th overall selection.

Didn't really think about it before, but it's weird to know that we were the 6th worst team out of 30

How the mighty have fallen :(

And to think we were 4 wins away from playoffs

Kevin Bieksa named captain of the Canadian WHC team. Likely will be paired with Garrison as the 1st unit.

Burrows to start as the LW on the 1st forward line with Turris at C and Mackinnon on RW.

Benning looks like the forerunning by a long shot to be our next GM :)

Super excite.

Most likely to be announced after round 2/bruins series.

Thoughts on our upcoming free-agents and what you expect for their contracts? My guesses...

RFA:

Tanev: 3 years @ 3.25M

Kassian: 2 years @ 2.25M

Schroeder: 1 year @ 660k (qualifying)

Weber: 2 years @ 900k

Dalpe: 1 year @ 605k (qualifying)

UFA:

Alberts: Still feeling concussion symptoms, doubt he plays next season

Santorelli: Hard to say because of his injury. If he played all season like he did before he went down, he could have probably asked for 2 years @ 3M or something, but now it's unclear. I assume it's going to be something like 1 year @ 2M.

As for outside UFAs, not really anybody that fits here. We need some younger forwards, and there aren't any available. Callahan is the closest to matching our needs but I highly doubt Vancouver is on his radar.

So unless there's a big trade involving Kesler or one of our core D-men, it'll likely be the same roster as this past season with, hopefully, some rookies pushing for jobs.

Also, a decision has to be made on Booth; it will be the last year of his 4.5M cap contract. I'm thinking he doesn't get bought out because we have a decent amount of cap space even with him and it's not like we're going to sign a bunch of old free-agents to try to contend. It helps that he was playing a bit better late in the season.

Injuries have really screwed him over the last 12 months.

Claude Giroux.

Ron Delorme and Co. cost Vancouver Claude Giroux.

I mean, this would make foregoing the 2004 haul worth it on its own.

The obvious, unthinking choice in 2006 was Claude Giroux at 14th overall. And they still screwed it up.

i was surprised giroux dropped to 22nd that year he looked really good in the WJC when i saw philly got him i was like FUCK YES
still am to this day
scouting is huge tho most succesful team can draft 50-70 point players good 2 way guys in the mid-late 1st... from that list the nucks drafted career ahlers most of the time lol
then if u can get steals in the later rounds even better ...but nucks seem like they were fuckin up thier 1st rounders lol
