I think the coyotes would do better if they played where the Suns play

but they do have a nice arena that is across the street from where Arizona Cardinals play

edit: UFC went to Glendale instead of Suns' arena in June

Forget which podcast I was listening too but apparently the arena where the Suns play is a nightmare for hockey, it was really built for basketball and not a rink.

Not sure what the specifics are but it didn’t seem like a good option.

Yeah, when the team left Winnipeg they played where suns play, it's an older stadium

it's odd, Cardinals and Coyotes play across from each other, and the Suns and Diamondbacks play across from each other

but the Suns will be wanting a new arena soon

they mentioned that on tsn too the other pro sports teams have fanbases established already and its hard to convert them into coyotes fans
this feels like it has to be the final straw and the only result is relocation but between bettman never wanting this team to leave and the kraken coming in next season i feel like it wont happen
a relocation could steal some of the krakens hype they wouldn't be the only new team in the league sorta deal and that cant be a thing not yet at least

i mean i see why the market itself is huge but hockey has just never come close to catching on there for so long its crazy i feel like you gotta give up at some point if it doesnt catch on lol

the yotes have had teams in the playoffs and the fans still never went nobody in arizona gives a fuck about hockey their own fucking arena stated they have better bigger $$ earning events to host
people are willing to drive to those i guess but not a coyotes game though cause its too far
and if the owner is bad whos to blame for that? bettman basilie shoulda got that team and relocated them like he wanted

even if its not to quebec that teams been failing for years and its not going to change at least move it somewhere it has a chance

for all the good bettman has done for this league hes forced the yotes to fail in a market that doesnt want them because he knows the potential if they ever grabbed a big enough audience
but they dont there is too much competition i even game with multiple people from az not a single one of them gives a fuck about the yotes and hockey and they pretty much all love sports that arent hockey

Ottawa didn't even sell out with a deep playoff run.

I'm not saying Arizona is a hockey hotbed, but it could support a team as well as quebec city with non shitty owners, a non shitty team, and a rink closer to where the population actually live.

Driving out to watch a football game every other week and tailgate before and after is different than nhl.

Its a massive metro area. I dont care if the few ppl you know from Arizona don't care about hockey; the city gets behind winners and ownership that care, just like anywhere else.

If they do, and they might, it'll prob be Houston.

Houston has an established successful owner, arena, and a massive metro population

Would you accept a 1st and 3rd pick for kk straight up though? I think bergi would want more than just picks imo.

Overpaying him for just 1 season while they contend isn't as bad as forcing Habs to overpay for this season though

would be fair i think

but as ive stated ottawa has the worst nhl owner ever and fans were boycotting him vs arizona just not having fans thats like lowest of the low for a canadian team

I also think the right move is just letting him go and not fall for the canes trap, but i think if he traded with the canes prior, he would actually have gotten more than a 1st and 3rd pick. Since they offer sheeted him after failing to try trade for him with Bergi keep shutting it down.

The only thing holding bergi back is the lack of depth in the middle with danault gone. He's gotta find someone else to play behind suzuki now if KK is also gone.

https://www.spotrac.com/nhl/free-agents/center/ufa/available/

not much options there

i want bergi to offer sheet petey after they let kk go, so benning can insta match and avoid the negotiations like they did with Aho

The coyotes have had awful ownership (or no ownership) for a long time. They are very similar to Ottawa in that regard. You literally hear nothing good about the coyotes.

Nice, and they also play an hour plus away from most of their metro population.

Arizona may not work, but its hard for us to judge the situation when the entire franchise, from ownership, to team, to commute to games has been incredibly dysfunctional.

idk is it the owners fault though like what has he done thats been bad for the team? i guess not pay the arena lease but thats probably cause hes in the hole with the team
they have had poor management decisions i guess but it happens and the owner was willing to take on cap to stock pile picks most bad owners arent willing to spend money and have an internal cap but the yotes up there in salary
the reason we always here about the yotes and nothing good is cause they shouldnt be there but bettman wont let them move so we always here about them relocating and struggling
and dont forget basilie should have gotten this team but the nhl made sure he didnt because he wanted to relocate it
it doesnt seem like they are being held back by an internal cap or something like most bad owners are considered bad owners for
