Pretty ridiculous on behalf of the Canes. I love the troll but it’s somewhat irresponsible, no?

If MTL has to let him go, the canes acquire KK, he’s a 21 year old kid that’s not even established in the league going to a team that doesn’t have any real interest in him.. could ruin his career in all honesty

He is probably a 3rd line center in Carolina. Huge overpay for the position.

Really seems to be solely out of spite at this point.

After the 1 year deal expires he would have to be qualified for that high salary, so if he does not perform it could end up burning the Canes.

Unless he wanted out which is a different story

I think it's pretty genius tbh, it's petty af but holy fuck top tier trolling on top of sweet revenge 10/10.

They fuck up MTL by forcing them to overpay for him when they need to add some help after losing some key players this season, and matching the offer puts them over like 2m above the cap and the very least fuck up their original plan for this off season. It also helps KK cuz habs gotta qualify him for his next contract.

Canes are going for a run now, so adding a 21 yr old kid that's clutch in playoffs and more depth to their team for 1st/3rd isn't too shabby. KK can also choose to sign for less with Canes if he loves it there since they "overpaid" him and helped him out with negotiations with lolhabs. Sort of offset and balance the value for next contract without qualifying him, or he can sit out rest of the season without being paid, only to sign with another team for same or less with another team..

I agree. Kid has it made.

Even if Carolina made the offer solely out of spite he is the one who benefits.

I think you’re over valuing KK

The point I’m making is that if the Habs have to let him go, the 21 year old kids career is being thrown in a blender.

He gets traded to the Canes and will more than likely have a bad relationship with the organization for doing that to him. Be over valued and labeled as a bust/underperforming. Unnecessary pressure that can really hinder his development.

Why would KK have a bad relationship with the habs for agreeing to signing an offer sheet? lol. It's all on bergi, and the consequences of trying to offer sheet Aho. Can't really blame a 21yr old kid saying yes to 6m/yr, and further helping him for future contract situation with the habs cuz QO puts him minimum of 6m. If he underperforms and busts after the 1year deal, the habs will lose him for nothing by unqualifying him, or qualify him for a min of 6m for his next contract. Otherwise, not match the offer and just take the 1st and 3rd. See how genius this is?? it's a huge fuck you to bergi

unless im misunderstanding what you wrote, why would KK have a bad relationship with the Canes if he matched the offer that Canes offered...?

All I’m saying is I can see this having a negative impact on KKs career

I love the entertainment value of the offer sheet, not crazy about the disregard for the development of a 21 year old.

Habs have already fucked with his development, haven't they?? Plus the Canes tried to trade for KK earlier this week so it's not like this whole thing is a just a troll act.... they have a plan for him on their team.

Doubtful. Young kid now gets to grow with a team that’s one or two moves away from contending. You know they will bolster for the playoffs too. Plus Montreal’s development team has been garbage for a long time. This is great for his career. Oh, the kids also going to be making over 6M/year let’s not leave that little detail out lol.

Not surprised he dissed Montreal on his way out lol. It’s literally become a thing for players to diss Montreal.

But you’re asking a 3-4 million dollar player to play like a 6 million dollar player during his prime development years.

We all know what happens to overpayed players, they become radioactive and the center of attention

Do you think 6.1 is an overpay?
