I'm in no way defending PHX as a suitable NHL city, but driving an hour one way to see a game is entirely too long, especially in a transplant city like PHX. Hell I live maybe a half hour from where the blues play and I've turned down tickets before because I dont want to get home at 11pm and still have to wind down before bed just to be exhausted the next morning. People work and have kids and shit. Length of drive isn't a good way to determine someone's Fandom.

ayy idk
i live in a city where there isnt really a close team people drive 2+ hours to go see leafs games or cross borders to see sabers games
i feel like a half our hour long drive is a shit excuse in general sure its valid in some cases as you pointed out but go on a friday night or something when you dont have work the next day

to say an arena location is the issue when i see people drive across my province and cross borders to go see games is a fuckin joke put the team in quebec i bet people would drive 2+hours to go see them

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed center Sean Couturier to an eight-year contract extension worth an average annual value (AAV) of $7.75M

That's a steal for the best two way forward in the league

Dube 3 x 2.3M

Good deals for both Svech and Couturier.

One should outperform that number soon whereas the other will probably be overpaid in the 2nd half but both are good prices for right now.

Couturier was a solid signing for the Flyers. He’s going to be the face of the team for years now. I like the direction Philadelphia is heading in. Yandle and Risto both nice signings as well. If they keep managing the team properly (their work is still far from done) they can separate themselves from the majority of the Metro division.

I would put him top 5 for sure but to say he’s the best hands down is a stretch

9-10 would be op. They valued him perfectly. Mutually exclusive good deal for both parties.

I think it depends on the area/traffic/success of the team etc

Yea obv going on Friday or Saturday night fixes the issues I proposed, but thats 25% of the games. What about the other ones? People have lives, and even if I dont go to many week night games, I still watch every single damn game on TV.

Just because Canadians have nothing else to do in winter besides drive long distances to hockey games doesn't mean other people and areas don't. And quebec city may or may not work; it didn't work before.

In my opinion, ownership means alot more to fan attendance than anything else. Crappy owners get crappy attendance.
