Haag played well. I would let MDZ walk. Need to see more of the kids plus we have too many players to resign. Ghost and Weal being the priorities.

Hockey Canada announced that Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol has been named an assistant coach for Team Canada at the 2017 IIHF World Championship
hextall getting hakstol some valuable coaching experience

hextall on young guys
-"I feel like we've got a number of kids in all positions that can push," said GM Ron Hextall Thursday. "The more kids that you have that can fill holes, the better.

"There's always guys later in training camp or tryouts that can come in, just in case you miscalculate. We'll look at all our options, but our kids, first and foremost. A certain number of them are at a level now that they're going to get a long look."

The trade of Mark Streit and the decisions to not re-sign Michael Del Zotto and Nick Schultz leaves open spots on defense
"We don't plan on going out and signing veterans on the back end," said Hextall. "Our kids, it's time to give them a shot, and we're going to do that.

there is no question that the Flyers need another D who can make good transition plays, but Hextall will not eat his young. Sanheim won't be on the team unless he is ready and, in the organization's belief, Morin and Hagg likely are.

Left wing Oskar Lindblom, a fifth-round pick in 2014, may be another exception because he has played two full seasons in the Swedish Elite League.

"Oskar has had a great year," said Hextall. "He's in a really good league and has come a long way since his draft year. I hope he's here in September fighting for a spot along with a number of other guys."

gotta say im pretty excited its about time the young guys get to come up and show their stuff and hextalls opening up the spots for them

really? nice some good experience for him as an underaged player
sounded like they had injuries or something cuz other day hextal lwas talking about goalies and he was like
"if you ask the phantoms you can never have too many good goalies" or something

Goaltender Anthony Stolarz will miss the entire playoffs with a lower body injury… Rookie Alex Lyon will be the club's starter - he posted a 27-14-5 record with a 2.74 GAA and .912 save percentage… His 27 wins led all rookies and tied for fourth in the entire AHL.

yeah so hart prob the back up but still good for him to be there and experience the ahl playoffs
