i dont think its that bad of a trade who wants to take on a lazy player making 8m? hes not super bad but i dont think he had value either
specially when you could probably take him off the roster and not bat an eye due to the young players we got to replace him
we shed some salary and get a decent winger to play a bit lower in the roster and with that cap space maybe we can sign a 3c for more depth down the middle

idk if I want the Canucks to lock up Hughes at a big cap hit long-term. he can't play defense on his own lol. would be a lot more comfortable giving Petey the fat contract.

Atkinson scored 40 goals a few years ago.

Mind you those numbers came playing with Panarin.

That being said I think his offensive numbers improve in Philly.

Furthermore I remember Atkinson playing with a lot of grit and tenacity when Columbus was in the playoffs. Would rather have him in a tough playoff game over Voracek.


At the rate things are going it seems that Voracek is going to be the player who declines more.

Odds are Atkinson's contract will bring more value than Voracek's

yeah voracek has skill but hes kind of soft and lazy he used to drive play crash the net now he just skates up the wing and plays on the perimeter he doesnt challenge the D anymore
really seems like he checked out in philly and atkinson seems like a better goal scorer and just generally more versatile guy who like u said has more grit and tenacity and just brings more overall energy

if it was jvr for atkinson id be a little pissed but voracek? im 100% fine with it was time to move on from him the whole fanbase was pretty much fed up with his lack of effort


i also think he was part of the leadership group in cbj so him +ellis being added should really help out giroux
seems like since timonen left there has been a major hole in the assistant captain roles other then maybe simmonds
