Yes you are in the major cities. Again today it took me awhile. So many people were stuck and accidents galore. Next year I will have a full set with rims so I can put them on easy. Could not do it this year because I am pretty poor after buying a condo and 1 year old vehicle.
Even to Whistler which is an alpine area you can go with M+S tires which are really just glorified all season tires that don't do much.
The only thing saving me is the Subaru Forester. It handles really good in the snow considering it is not a higher end vehicle.
Some people were stupid enough to try to go up the hills with RWD. They all failed miserably.
My biggest annoyance is the city was not prepared in the morning. No plows in sight... All these taxes and no action.
My main car is awd, but I only have summer tires on it. I don't have the balls to risk driving it in this weather. I worked last night and it was a shit show, literally snowed about 2-3ft. Our cars in the parking lot was buried with snow lol. Used a brush to clean off the snow, and it would instantly cover it up again as I make a full rotation around my car haha.
The dealership wanted 2.6k for winter tires + rims, and if I did it myself it would still be around 2k. I couldn't justify spending that much when the weather is only like this for few days a year, if at all. So I just drive my other old car with full winter setup, with temp license
