Kucherov has surgery, rests up and then comes back for the playoffs off the books.

Tampa is a deep team in a weak division. They will make the playoffs no problem without him.

It is not against the rules but it just seems wrong they get to walk away from their cap mess so easily.

Maybe I give the management team a bit too much credit....

Just seems to me they are trying to time the surgery perfectly so he can return to bolster an already deep team without any cap hit.

It's a huge shame imo, on average, like 2 Canadian teams make the playoffs and they don't make it very far anyway. With this new North division, 4 teams are guaranteed to make the playoffs, out of 7...but no one expects Ottawa to make it... So 4/6... Thats a huge advantage.
Then the playoff is set up so couple Canadian teams are guaranteed to go past the 1st round lol

This is like the biggest advantage for the leafs, Andersen don't have to get PTSD from boston/tampa in playoffs and they face Canadian teams to get them past the first round. If Andersen chokes again, I don't think the leafs will get him back ever. Lol

Canucks regressed a bit, it will depend all on Holtby to bounce back but I highly doubt he will succeed in our system. Plus they can't beat the jets and they play them 9 times.

So really, taking Ottawa and Canucks out of the playoffs, one other Canadian team just has to do better than the 5th team lmao
