Of course there is no guarantee, but the odds of him staying put in Ottawa where he was happy with his role, team, coach, & found success to revive his NHL career is more favourable than risking it to go to another team under Quenneville where he wasn't too happy with his deployment during his brief stint w/ the chicago bhawks. Also before his time with the Sens it looked like he was going to be a fringe nhler going overseas. Yet, you think he can suddenly become a 60pt player on a better team to replace hoffman..? I doubt that, but I guess anything can happen.

He also didn't leave Sens cuz he didn't like the team, he left because of money. He thought he's worth 5x5. He probably also thought he could at least get better than 3x3.25m deal, but clearly that wasn't the case as he settled for 1yr/1.7m due to most teams being fucked by the flat cap.
I agree Sens have a shitty cheap owner, but they weren't a basement team when they had ek, stone, Hoffman etc. They became a basement team after blowing the team up to rebuild, so Im saying their team full of good prospects will be 3+yrs developed and be a better team than today. And assuming Duclair stays consistent, he would've established himself on the team as a vet, or at least proved to the league he's a consistent 40+pt player for a 5x5 contract.

once those prospects want $$ they will be traded for picks i dont ever see the sens having a truly competitive team unless they draft and develop a big crop of prospects within a small window and they are all on elc/bridge contracts
and i like duclair hes a bit one dimensional but hes got some good properties hes fast and hes got a nice shot i always felt he was misused in a bottom 6 role on teams

he probably wont get 30-30 but i wouldnt be surprised if he puts up 25-30 goals and in a non covid season easily fetches 3+ mill like the sens offered by other teams
shit the fact the sens offered him 3m says to me hes probably worth at least 4

the sens owner is legit terrible though hes trying to do what the leafs did in the 90s build a shitter team and just rake in the $$ from the fans selling out every game like it got so bad fans tried to boycot goin to sens games t oget rid of melnyk

I agree he will easily get 3m from other teams once covid is done and league goes back to normal. But the fact is he lost money overall from representing himself, and usually when players take risks like this, it's for a huge gain... Not to hope breaking even on what they coulda got

idk he lost money thats not doubted but to say its because he represented himself idk how true that is with covid i dont think an agent could get him much more or he just says "sign with ottawa" so he gets paid he coulda did that on his own
i kinda like when players bank on themselves too and i think hes one of the guys thats got the stuff to do it but if he signs 3 years with the sens and becomes a 30-40 point regular thats all he is a 30-40 point guy probably make 2-3m
even if he has an average season on florida hes probably getting similar points and can fetch that 2-3 on a team of his choosing worst case sorta deal
but if he has a big year maybe he can get 4-5 million for like 4-5 seasons like he wanted and in the end it pays out more even with the loss of the 1 year in florida

whether it pays off or not we will see shit like that is part of what makes seasons interesting ^^
im not sure what the graphics to show me maybe that they estimate hes valued at 3.5? i have no idea what the rest means but seems shot creation and scoring is good ... thats pretty handy ^^

Players doing it themselves is a very bad idea. Doughty is a great example of screwing himself over to save 3-5% agent fees. He costed himself much more than that based on the poor structured contract and not making it buyout proof for extra insurance. Especially when he declined much sooner than everyone thought, and gets bought out in couple of years, he's going to lose about 15mil. I wish Eriksson represented himself, and signed a 6x6 structured similar to doughtys then he woulda been longggg gone instead of still making the bank for memes.

We have re-signed Erik Cernak to a three-year contract worth $2.95 million AAV!

What a bargain

Some health protocols the league will be following this year.

Some key measures include:

The league will announce the names of players who test positive for COVID-19 during the season.

All coaches must wear face coverings on the bench during games.

Following a positive test, players must self-isolate based on local health regulations and need to be cleared by a team physician and cardiologist before returning to play.

Teammates identified as close contacts won't be required to quarantine as long as they test negative and remain asymptomatic.

Players will stay alone in hotel rooms on the road and are not allowed to dine at restaurants, go shopping, or use transportation that isn't provided by the team.
