Quite a leap to think that was anywhere near part of the conversation.
They referenced nerd culture. They became a part of nerd culture. And they influenced nerd culture. Don't care if they're thugs. You reference spock, the flintstones, and marvel comics in your songs, then appear in video games, on star trek, and are considered an inspiration for something called nerdcore?
Not a hard conclusion to make.
Where are they an inspiration to nerd core though, where is that information coming from, or is it simply a probable conclusion you have reached?
they are rappers, sure white nerds identified with them but they were also able to make themselves relatable to the masses of blacks who were at the time the prime consumers of hip hop, and that was who gave them success in the industry
Nerdcore is not a respected real part of hip hop beastie boys are, to categorize them as nerdcore a category which neither applies to them or existed at the time is from a hip hop heads stand point dismissive and illegitimate.
