Asked agent Matt Keator about his client Zdeno Chara. Keator says numerous teams have reached out today on the future HHOFer. Keator says Chara will take his time. In no hurry to make any decision. Will decide in due time.

but we don't know whether Demko can actually be a starter

that's the entirety of the problem. people acting like Demko's a sure thing but to play behind a team that turtles and gets outshot for ~60 games/season and still come out looking good, that's a whole mountain to climb. if Demko actually managed to handle say, 40-50 games we could've simply exposed Markstrom, Seattle would never say no to that.

now we have Holtby who may never come close to his old form, which is OK for next season actually. but Seattle may not take him, and we'll need at least 15M to retain Petey/Hughes/Demko... with Holtby, Eriksson, Beagle and Roussel all still in the books.

good thing they got 30m to work with
