I'd imagine the gm, if not the organization, would ask their goalie trainers input whom he prefers to work with if markstrom is gone. Especially when he has enough influence to scout his potential prospects in the draft.
Benning getting second opinions probably goes like this:
"Hey signing Holtby and letting Markstrom walk is a good idea, right?"
"No way, he can't fill Markstrom's shoes. But if he has to walk, then maybe bring Fleury or-"
