I knew he was on the prospect radar but after looking at his college stats this season I am pretty sad. I did not know how well he was doing.

I know we are deep at center but it looks like Madden could crack the NHL in an offensive role. If he bulks up we could have given away someone good.

Ya. This is the year to sell. Not exactly happy the Canucks got Toffoli. Paid too much imo, like all of the other buyers.

Giving away assets for what will most likely be a rental player when this is not even a primary year to push for contetion does not make much sense to me.

I am just hoping it was done with inside knowledge being available that would lead management to believe Toffoli wants to stay in Vancouver at a good price.

This is an opportunity for rebuilding teams to really stock up. The asking price has been set high.

Feels like re-signing Toffoli is a done deal with Ferland likely to retire. I don't think Benning makes this trade unless he has a good idea of the cap situation going forward. (giving him the benefit of the doubt here).

The people I know that really follow prospects are pretty high on Madden so we'll see. If Toffoli performs like a legit 2nd liner for at least a few more years it's worth it. His last good year was 4 years ago though, who knows lol.

There's no way we're re-signing Toffoli unless both Markstrom and Tanev walk, which would be horrible.

I believe the trade was done because Ferland is out (most likely will never be the same player/retire through LTIR), and Boeser is out minimum of 3 weeks, and i personally think he should shut it down for the season until he's 100% healthy. His shot isn't even close to how it was couple seasons ago and his intensity as well after that scary back injury.

Madden is a very good prospect, as he has been killing it in college, however there were rumors that he may have wanted to sign elsewhere with better opportunity. So if that rumor is true, it would be less of a blow.

Toffoli is only 27, with a better shot than pearson. If he clicks with Petey/Miller or Bo/Pearson like the LA dayz, it would add depth to our RW since it's VERYYY weak without boeser.

I rather this young team at least have a taste of the playoffs this season, so they know what it feels like and be even more motivated to improve and reach playoffs again. Without someone legit filling in boeser/ferland's spot, i don't think Canucks would have great chance of making playoffs with pacific being real close. (canucks are already falling and teams are catching up)

Losing the 2nd round pick sucks, but this year's draft is very top heavy deep, and perhaps the Benning's godtier scout team believes they won't get anyone worthy in the 2nd rd opposed to having a chance of toffoli working out/ maybe re-signing/ making playoffs etc. Also, the canucks still have all their picks for the next 2 seasons, assuming they make playoffs this season and give the 1st away this season.

Montreal trade scandella for a 2020 2nd and a 2021 conditionnal 4th to st Louis. And we had paid a 4th round pick less than 2months ago

2nd round pick success is arround 16-20% and timmins is good in the 2nd round normally i think that hes worse in the first compared to the 2nd
