What did Gillis say about the Kesler trade with pens? I couldn't watch the interview

He didn't address it specifically. Nobody in the Canucks camp has actually admit that they were shopping Kesler or he asked for a trade.

Game @ Phoenix:

- Another dull, uneventful game in which the Canucks couldn't muster up much offensively. No energy or urgency, lack of execution and not enough skill or talent to make up for it. Phoenix was definitely the better team in all areas. It actually should have been a 2-0 loss because the goal they had disallowed was a bad call.

- Lack did a great job of bouncing back after looking shaky in the Heritage Classic. Nice to see that he handled the pressure of being "the guy" well. The only goal against was caused by some miscommunication with the defensemen.

- Kesler once again may have been our best forward but he didn't really play that well, everyone else just sucked. The Higgins - Kesler - Hansen line is the only one that looks semi-useful right now. Henrik and Burrows are still terrible and I'm really disappointed in Schroeder.

- Richardson left the game kind of early, I think he's been nursing an injury lately. No update for the game against Dallas.

Diaz traded away for a 5th rounder. Our D-men are healthy now and we have Weber as an extra, so he wasn't really needed.

---

Matthias will wear #27 and Markstrom will wear #35. Based on his comments, Markstrom seems very excited to be here. Don't know if Matthias has talked to the media yet.

---

Hoping for these lines tomorrow:

Henrik - Kesler - Burrows
Higgins - Matthias - Hansen
Booth - Schroeder - Kassian
Sestito - Richardson - Dalpe

Matthias was on T1040. Never heard a player so excited to come to Van.

Well that's nice.

Too bad he's going to request a trade by next year's deadline.

Richardson is out, no update on his injury though.

Matthias takes his spot and Archibald stays in.

Lack starts but I think Markstrom will get a shot later on unless Lack is on fire and we're still in the race.

Alex Edler says he won't be waiving his NTC. Don't know if his mind will change if we go through a full rebuild. Even if it doesn't, we have enough assets to sell off and keep him. He's still pretty young anyway.

Let's see what the new-look Canucks can do against the Dallas Stars. I'm going to relax and watch the game on Fox Sports Southwest. The puck just dropped. I know their offense has been dismal for a long time. Will they even try and crash the nets and be aggressive tonight? I don't think 1 or 2 goals will be enough to beat the Stars.

You make it sound as if it's going to be a good game, lol
