Weber is pretty solid this year and deserves what he is getting, also a great leader to the young guys coming in. His speed is obviously going to be an issue before his contract expires but I'm sure if he retires Nashville is getting the cap penalty and habs are in the clear.



If he gets bought out that’s all montreal and has nothing to do with Nashville’s cap.
If he retires nashville is in a world of hurt. If he retires 1 year early nashville is on the hook for 24mil in cap hit, 2 years early 2x12mil, 3 years early 3x8mil and so on.

Nsh is Bettmans darling of the south. They won’t get hit with squat. It would be absolutely hilarious for them to get hit with one of those first 3 yr ones and try to ice a competitive team. Shit will hit the fan and they’ll get out of it and then Canucks will be like wtf luongo.

The penalties could be amended in the new CBA but it doesn’t sound like the concept itself is going anywhere.

it's the canucks way, they always get screwed by the rules in some way. Just when other teams should be too, the league changes the rules :rofl:
