he's got his little bish at Laval waiting to be called up for 1-2 years before getting fired.. Bergevin has a plan for HIMSELF

If he gets demoted to the AHL @ 70k a year he is just going to peace it.

Honestly it is extremely low risk for Montreal and I don't mind the signing.

If he stinks it up or causes a scene in the locker room he is out the door, demoted to the AHL without consequence.

From there he probably just goes back to Russia.

However maybe he can be a bargain on the PP and provide some advice to the younger players.

He can be a bargain anywhere in the habs line up lol

the signing just shows how desperate both Habs and Kovalchuk are

Kovalchuk has like 11 million in the bank for this season and next season, he thought this was the best chance to play

The habs season is over tbh. 3 injuries in the top 6, the defense coach sucks ass, they give the most shots in.the slot and price isnt doing well this year.

The kovalchuk signature will be a better than having lekhonen on the top 6 but they still will miss the playoffs for sure

Carey Price had his prime wasted.

It is a shame really. You are right. He is not as good as he once was but when he was at his peak this team had a shot to win it all and blew it.

It will only get worse. That Weber contract is going to bury them pretty soon.

If Weber retires or gets bought out isn't Nashville the one taking the salary cap penalty?

Weber is pretty solid this year and deserves what he is getting, also a great leader to the young guys coming in. His speed is obviously going to be an issue before his contract expires but I'm sure if he retires Nashville is getting the cap penalty and habs are in the clear.
