I wonder if it was Laine or the Jets that wanted the two year deal.

I think the Jets did very well on this contract.

If Laine falters and no longer fits in with the team a two year term is easy to trade.

On the flipside if he does well they will have to pay him big on the next contract. He will still be an RFA though.

Overall though a two year deal is a 'show me' contract. I think it will serve as motivation for him to get his shit together.
