Lol Point got less... no state tax makes up for it I guess. Still though now Flims are going to have to give him a fat raise in 3 years

Leafs charged $4.14mm more against cap, yet Marner only takes home $970k more than Point. @BizNasty2point0 @RearAdBsBlog @ryanwhitney6 #biztaxtalk #floridaman @neuvoo https://t.co/4VCksIPZpX

So many three year bridge deals. A lockout is looking more likely. Imagine what they will be asking for in three years.

I am not saying they should not chase every dime but these deals will squeeze veteran 3rd/4th line players out of the league as teams will have to just fill in bottom 6 forwards and 3rd D pairings with ELC'S.

Throw that in with the lack of parity of the Canadian dollar and large fluctuations in provincial/state taxes.

This leaves the league with a far from level playing field - Even with a salary cap. the NHLPA and ownership will both have concerns going into CBA negotiations.

Faulk is in his late 20s, I thought he was in his early 30s just based on his plays slightly declining

I thought he was older too because he has been around for a long time. He started playing very early for a defenseman.

lol give me a break, It’s a fine deal. The story is how Marner fucked the Leafs compared to the Tkachuk and Point deals.

It is an unfair advantage that needs to be addressed. You can't have parity with the Canadian dollar at the value it is combined with provincial/state taxes varying so widely.

I don't think much can be done about the CAD currency but it would be worth it to look into the different taxation rates imo. The more money a player makes the further the gap widens in earnings based on where they sign.

I don't know. That Marner deal might look good during the last few years. It all depends.

If league revenues continue to rise the guys on bridge deals will make more in the long run.

Also if their play slips they left money on the table. The guys who signed bridge deals are more confident imo because they believe they will get even better.
