Gardiner is pretty bad. Doubt he would have waited all off season to sign a team friendly deal, that's the best offer he had imo.

Imagine the defensive train wreck of a Gardiner/Faulk pairing.

It’s also more of musical chairs last guy standing thing then a team friendly deal. There’s lots of guys who make 4 mil that Gardiner will out perform, they got deals in the past and now there’s not enough cap space to go around since gm’s can’t manage money worth a shit.
