I like him, but I'm glad we didn't give him that

Yeah it's a good contact for him
We don't have the space to do it. Even if we trade Backes that Johansson contract would likely be pushing the cap with it lol

Tbh if bergevin would pick up backes from the bruins for a 1st round pick and a 3rd round pick id be happy as fck considering that he still got a few years on his contract and that he cost 5.5 per year. With our cap space it would fit and he could easily play on the 3rd-4th line

But yeah not a lot of gm are willing to take bad contracts and it surprises me especially when you see what toronto had to give to get rid of marleau who still produce arround 40 points per season

I'd gladly give that up
Boston needs to stack up NOW, it's not like they're a borderline playoff team, they're a top 3 team

The thing is that we know it wont happen since we are division rivals but i feel that we could use the help of backes for physical games and also protecting the young players. Since bergevin likes speedy little forwards and big ass defenseman. Id rather have backes than nick cousins and those random.ass players that we healthy scratch half of the season.

And i meant it as we get backes and your first and 3rd round pick to pick up your bad contract, not the other way arround

I know, I would gladly give you the 1st and 3rd without hesitation
We just need the cap space. Boston is too good right now to not sightly damage their future to grab another winger by the trade deadline. Our big guys aren't getting any younger, besides Pastrnak, offensively.

Your biggest problem will be to resign mcavoy and the other young guys when its time. Your team is pretty lucky with the marchand contract but you got the awful kreyci contact(cant spell his name)

Krejci contract isn't that bad anymore, every talented player getting $7m nowadays. Still shouldn't be our highest paid forward though lol
McAvoy and Carlo should get their contracts some time this month 😱 I want them both to get Max years. We have those two and Heinen to sign rn, we only have like $11m to spend so Boston is going to need to trade away Backes or Krejci. It makes more sense to trade Backes simply because of the team we have, contender

Well the 6m contract of backes will be pretty hard to trade tbh. Considering how neely thinks, he will try to trade.him.in the west conference but there will be barely anyone to take on that contract except.maybe colorado/yotes/ducks. Since trading in your own division isnt a good idea even if its a garbage player that wont make a difference in the other team

I honestly don't mind if we trade Krejci 🐐 if it means we lock up McAvoy and Carlo. Would definitely need help at offense if so. The 3rd and 4th lines take massive hits, 2nd line also gets worse. Coyle and Kuraly would need to play like they did in the playoffs to have any balance outside of our 1st line, and they're not the type of players for that 😱 this is why Backes needs to be the one to go, as a contending team. If we weren't an elite team then Krejci should be the one to go to doubt. Boston is in a tough spot lol, McAvoy will not be cheap, franchise dman
