Can someone explain to me how leafs will sign Marner now? With Horton on ltir that still leaves them with what? Less than 9mil in cap space?

Now would be a great time to try to entice Marner away from Leafs

Just slightly above 9 Mil in cap space without the Horton deal. They're definitely going to have to move some more money out.

Cmon Bergy dont pussy out now, offer sheet Marner already

I think they have 8.5 in space with Horton off. Looks like they can squeeze another 2-3 mil from sending down a few guys to the AHL

They might be able to make it fit but barely, would leave them zero room for mid-season tinkering if injuries happen

Yeah looking at it they might be able to just squeeze Marner in with couple guys starting in the AHL... But if one of their top-4 dmen get hurt for any period of time, they're going to be fucked. Also dont see how they keep Barrie next off season...

Gonna be really interesting to see if they can build a team around having 3 guys at ~33mil of the cap.

The way it looks right now, the best they’ll do is delay their cap troubles for 1 year

After the 2 signings and accounting for Horton’s ltir I see 10.5, this includes droping 1d at 700k and 1f at 700k leaving 13/7/2 spots in the cap. Gotta trim about 2 mil to sign marner I’d say.

Habs are done for offersheets. Not enough cap room after signing Chiarot

Another team should have the balls to offer sheet Marner. Leafs currently have no room and need to do something

at this point leafs are hoping a team offersheets marner
becasue they either get all those 1st roundders or they lower the $$

you can go over the cap in the offseason by 5%? iirc unless they changed it so even if they match and go over they are fine as lnog as they move out $$ before day 1
i dont remember if hortons money counts towards that over 5% or not though i think it does until hes on ltir
