This is a list of terms commonly used on the D2jsp off-topic Hockey Betting Forum.
DO NOT SPAM THIS TOPIC OR YOU WILL BE REPORTED.
This can be used by new/old users to clear up terms, and help teach new betters what certain terms mean.

S/U - Straight up - The bet does not have any odds/spread. The person with the winning team wins the bet.

U/F - Upfront - If a person requires the forum gold upfront, he is asking for you to send the amount of forum gold you're betting before the game starts for the bet to be confirmed. This is commonly asked for when a user is on the trusted/active betters List, and you are not.
Here's a link to the active/trusted betters - http://forums.d2jsp.org/index.php?showtopic=28702941&f=203

Odds - the amount of forum gold placed on the bet is different for you and the person you're betting against.
Ex. 1:1.5 meaning my 500 fg vs. 750 fg.

Spread - Means a team can have +/- to the final score of the game. You Add or subtract points to the final score based on what you agreed for the bet.
Ex. My Leafs +1 vs. Sabres, if the final score was Leafs 1 - Sabres 2 you would add + 1 to the Leafs final score totaling Leafs 2, therefore canceling the bet because the game would be tied.

+ OT - Means if the game goes into overtime and a team has + OT, the team with + OT wins the game automatically.

A/C - Means auto confirmed. If a person states A/C they confirmed the bet.

Retract - Retracting a bet means that you are withdrawing your offer. Although some bettors find it annoying (and sometimes bad mannered) if someone retracts a bet after it's confirmed, but a bet can be retracted up until game time (unless otherwise specified by the bettors). You cannot retract an In-Game bet once it is confirmed.

SO / Shootout - after OT both teams go to a shootout to determine the winner

The Snake Game - Betters choose one team per game at a time until all games are chosen.
ex. http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=37448296&f=203

c'd or c/d - Means a bettor confirms a bet or a bet is confirmed.

B/w - Bandwagon - often meaning a person decides to cheer for a team that is doing the best.

Welch - When a bettor does not pay a lost bet.
- a welcher can payback a bet/bets and get welcher who paid back status
- you have 48 hours to pay a bet after the game/games finish, if you do not pay it, you become a welcher.

Active bettor - A bettor who regularly bets on the hockey forums who is known and trusted by others. To be considered for active status you must be nominated by other bettors.

Trusted bettor - A bettor who is trusted by all other bettors on the hockey forum. A trusted bettor can also act as a mediator but is not officially a mediator. They can also handle disputes on the hockey forum.

Mediator - A bettor who is trusted by all other bettors on the hockey forum. A Mediator can mediate bets for other bettors. If two Bettors with Unknown bettor status want to bet on a game,a mediator will hold each bettors FG waged on a bet and send the FG won to the appropriate bettor once the bet is over. They can also handle disputes on the hockey forum.

BM - Bad Manner

Gm - Good Manner

- Posting a bet offer in another persons thread, means the bet is confirmed on your side. unless otherwise stated. The persons who's thread it is must confirm the bet.
ex. my panthers 300 fg vs. your sabres 600.
- The persons who's thread i posted this bet offer in must confirm the bet for it to be active.

Eniac has it.

In a parlay bet, you bet one amount on a certain number of picks (usually 3-8) for a certain day. If you correctly pick all of the chosen games, you receive odds depending on how many games you choose. Example, a three-game parlay might have 3:1 odds, so if you correctly pick three out of three games, you would win 3x the amount you bet. The more games you choose, the higher the odds, since the probability of picking the correct winner of five, six, seven, eight or more games is increasingly difficult.
