so if multiple guys get a hat trick the first night of the season, does it go by whos game started first? or at what time in the game they scored? example: if player 1 scores the hat trick goal 3 minutes into the 3rd he would be "first" vrs player 2 who scores the hat trick goal 19:30 into the third

So from what i see, the nhl and other statistics sites recognize the the first hat trick scored via time of day rather than period of time during the game.

So if Tavares scores a hatty in 2nd period vs the habs (@ 8:35pm) and Kopitar scores one in the 1st period.(10:30pm)

Tavares is the winner.
