Nylander is too reliant imo, Marner looks like he makes plays and makes his teammates better.. but Nylander seems the opposite. He needs players like marner to help him be effective.



By all means I like em both. But with nylander playing with Matthews, they play the top d pairing which doesn’t help. Marner played with bozak and jvr vs the 3rd pairing and mucked lul

yeah they're both good players, i just see marner being more valuable than nylander though.
If marner played with matthews against top D line and nylander played with bozak/jvr vs 3rd pairs what were their performances like?

now they get tavares or matthews or kadri :drool:

Tough to say since it never happened

But marner had his droughts and dropped to the 4th line for a few weeks. I didn’t like it cause it didn’t help him break through either. I do remember him falling a fuck ton last year as well

I don’t value either of them more than the other

Marner was averaging like a PPG while Matthews was out

based on this, it seems like babcock heavily relies on matthews/hyman for nylander on even man play. As he doenst seem to perform well with any other teammates.
while marner performs well with either kadri/patrick or jvr/bozak

if you front end this contract, spread out the rest can easily be done. Obv they'll lose some OTHER young pieces. Also Marleau is off the books after 2 more seasons.

Cap hit can’t be front loaded , it’s 11 mil each year of the 7.
