Great play by Tavares in a 3 on 3 setting. Keep trying.
And if you watch the play coots was on him for about 10-15 seconds.

I hear ya but in a 3 on 3 setting in particular Tavares made an amazing play which is why he is one of the best players in the world. You can nitpick any player in the league getting beat defensively or offensively lol

Good information. My assumption is the one category Coots is missing out on is team GAA, which I find somewhat strange that stat is weighed more heavily then an individual plus/- stat. There is a reason Coots is +16 and nobody else on our team is close to him...because they are always out on the ice when the opposition scores! Lol

Backlund is a minus 6 with 29 points in 45 games playing 19 minutes a game

Couturier is plus 16 with 45 points in 43 games playing over 21 minutes a game with 12% less offensive zone starting time

And we are talking about possession and SF/SA numbers? lol

Let me also state that Coots is a plus 16 on a team that is basically EVEN in goal differential, and tends to have blow ups on defense/goal-tending.

Flyers fans

You asked for reasoning why Berger is better than Couts. I gave you that reasoning with what I feel is concise data and reasoning
.

This is the Selke we are talking about, not the Hart or Art Ross so I dont understand why you're bludgeoning me with point totals. Also I think it's pretty well proven that +/- can be a misleading statistic so it's really another "whatever" stat in my books. Unless he's like +50 or some shit I dont think it shows that much. What statistics do you think makes a dominant defensive forward? Because I think Shots for versus Agaisnt while on the ice and puck possession are both VERY good tools to determine that.

Also I feel like it's worth saying that Couturier has had a good ~45 games this year. Last season he had 34 points in 66 games and was worse than Backlund in every possession, sf/sa, zone starts, points, etc categories. So lets maybe see a big sample size before we start talking so much shit. There was a reason I chose to compare them and it wasnt so I could interject a Flame to make him seem like he was better than Couts, I feel like they are very similar.
