Pretty sure that correct statistic allocation would give him a minus even if he stepped off the ice. I'm not 100% on this- I'll ask though.
I know that if there's a change and you step on the ice and your team scores you are not supposed to get the plus. I don't know the official regulations on this but I'll find out.
