I love old school, but I’m down for some new build, new items, something to spice it up now.

Gonna go out on a limb and predict a new teleport runeword.


Holy crap, I kind of expected changes eventually, it seemed to be heading that way, but not this early.

Looking forward to it.

i like most of it tbh

ive played most of the vanilla mods and there were alot of great add ons

Regarding Cold Skills, we believe there can be more diversity with the armor skills (I.e., Frozen Armor, Shiver Armor, and Chilling Armor) for distinctive advantages.
they already have distinct advantages though? let ssee what they come up with...
Lastly, we’re also revisiting Fire skills, to improve underused ones, like Hydra.
the reason they are underused is due to immunities in hell and infinity only working for lightning on majority of mobs
but knowin blizzard their buffs are going to be like synergies with +25% fire damage instead of 5% of whatever and runewords where you can have 8 hydras and cast 2 at once then they gotta nerf it cause they over did it or it does nothing cause immunities

this is what i mean they start making changes and it sounds like they dont even play the game or know why these things are underused
new runewords and items and recipes can be good but im also a little worried due to the reason i just said above and that results in crazy unbalanced shit being added most times


and buffing other mercs? they cant even have mercs show the proper aura in hell what are they going to add auras to other mercs now? like fix the shit already in the game first wtf

tbh i was pumped for ladder but idk now... they should have had at least one original ladder before adding new shit

At the end of a Ladder season, players who successfully made these Rune Words will have their Ladder characters be moved into a “non-Ladder” version of the game. Then at the beginning of the next Ladder season, players will make a new Ladder character and start all over again to earn new rewards
does this mean every reset or 4 months they are going to be adding "new rewards" such as runewords and shit?

My problem here is that they say that, and yet plan no nerfs to Teleport or Enigma. The entire game is warped around being able to TP with any class which radically changes their core gameplay. New runewords would need to be absolutely bonkers to change that.

I get where you're coming from but that's what D2 is and has been for most of its existence.

If you want D2 without tele you should be playing a mod.

Changing something that big changes the entire game, and it's not D2 anymore.

Looks like based on what they said, they want to make more builds viable without upsetting the meta.

A3 mercs are useless. Would not mind seeing them have viability.

Still think they are making too many changes though, in an attempt to get more people to buy the game most likely.

Most people use A2 mercs but imo A5 mercs are underrated. Higher Attacks per second, higher base life and life regen. Overall they are putting out more damage. I always use them on my gold find barbs.

I think the A2 merc just gets used a lot because of obvious runeword auras. I would not mind seeing more aura runewords to open up synergies with different skills.

I agree with you though, overall the way this was written it does seem like the dev team does not actually play or understand this game at all.


What I really wish they would do is bring back LAN. After they made it so you could set the monster difficulty/player amount offline I would have liked to be able to lan with my brother.

Despite that I think I am going to do a lot of offline play in the near future. It's fun working your way up by yourself.

Barely, most people just use the first one.

You realize we're in 2021 right... it's been a long time since devs cared about polish, and that goes for any company. Only thing they care about now is pumping out content.

Probably.

It's been happening for years with D2 and has been the case in D3: people blow their load on ladder for a few weeks, and then quit until next ladder. New/fresh incentives bring even more players back.

Some people play ladder to make profit. Others for a fresh PVP scene. Others (small minority) for the actual ladder race.

But that leaves a ton of people who really don't have any special incentive, which is probably what Blizzard will want to focus on here.

of course thats been blizzards problem for the past decade focusing on people that dont want to play their game and trying to make it so they like it or have incentive to play it
the problem is you cant please everybody and as they do that to bring in temporary players they push out the dedicated hardcore players that made the game and liked it for what it was

its the whole reason blizzard games have gone to shit and every franchise is dieing and honestly with them going into changes this fast im worried they are going to just kill this off too
