I have jury duty.... in michigan. Which means I need to go to the DMV and get my license updated to prove I live in VA - it's got an old address. Which is difficult to do without a car right now...

i always wanted to do that. did they just select you randomly? pretty sure thats how it works here. too bad u cant apply, id be all over that.

Yeah, it's random. I'd love to do it but obviously I'm not gonna drive 700 miles for jury duty.

No one who doesn't want to do jury duty ever has to Even if they refuse to recuse you, when the prosecution and defense are picking jurors, you can simply say something like "I believe all people charged with crimes are guilty" and you'll be eliminated from selection. People have to remember a summons for jury duty is only a summons to be potentially chosen for active jury duty. If a court has six cases to pick jurors for, they'll send out several hundreds of summons.
