Somebody remind me, the new CBA allows for 2 compliance buy-outs, right? But is the window for one of these buy outs closed already (namely, was it before the start of this season), or can teams buy out two players this summer?

I can see three possibilities ...

1: Toronto flops in the playoffs and their goaltenders get the blame - force a trade
2: Gillis finally lowers his price on Luongo and he makes a trade with Florida
3: Luongo gets fed up with the organization and requests to be bought out

Luongo wont be moved to florida, its luongo who wants to go there

This seems pretty logical.

IIRC:

First buyout window is technically this summer for two buyouts, but teams were allowed to use buyouts in advace (i.e. Redden and Gomez) to allow the players to not have to just sit on the bench all season. Those teams still incurred the cap hit for those players for the season.

I thought it was 2 before the end of summer, but max one during the season

This may be more correct

I thought it was 2 before the end of summer, but max one during the season and you still take the cap hit

Ah, you guys are right. Thanks! (Cap remains for this current season only iirc. That was done so that Redden and Gomez actually got to play)

P.S.: Still no official word on the Pominville trade. I want to know if I should go celebrate or not.

I'd be happy if it's the 2 players + 2nd rd pick. I'd be not so happy if it's a first AND a second.

That outstanding Caps deal might be a blockbuster.

Stafford? Miller?

"@NHLPA: .@BizNasty2point0 Congratulations on not being traded today. Good news, this is still a possibility: http://t.co/JMa6TjwiaK"
