Would be a competent team depending what it takes to get rid of Datsyuk's hit. And young enough that something like Tatar + 1st for Shattenkirk wouldn't be a dealbreaker. I'd still want to get a conditional pick back in case he doesn't re-sign.

The only thing I can think of is that GMs around the league found out that the Coyotes desperately wanted to add cap but obviously aren't in a position to add money so Holland took advantage of that situation.

However, Looking at the Coyotes cap situation, it seems that they would easily be over the floor once they re-signed Doan and their 3-4 main RFAs.



So I don't really know what another explanation could be, unless it's simply that the rookie GM got swindled by a vet.

PLEASE.

If they get Stamkos and Radulov it's gonna be the first time since 2011 I'm excited about this team. Blue line still needs work, I'd love to land Shattenkirk somehow but the forward corps would go from "yeah they're good enough for playoffs" to "holy shit we might actually do it."

Looking at the wings cap space and salaries yet to be offered to RFA , am finding it more and more unlikely that they'll get Stamkos.

I'm going to guess he's going to be highest paid player in the league.
Toews 10.5
Kane 10.5
Kopitar 10
Ovechkin 9.5
Malkin 9.5

So say stamkos will get 10.75 or 11.

That's tough to afford. Dekeysser, mrazek, pulkinen, helm, marchenko - all up for deals.

I need to learn more about how franzen's contract affects them. I don't think he is LTIR at this point.

I suppose dumping Howard's deal somehow will really help things along.
Almost seems like that actually has to happen no matter what.

Next year Tatar is up.
After that sheahan, larkin and mantha.

We're going to need the Stan Bowman play book for a couple of years it seems.

I fear wings fans will have to live with trading away one or two of the kids here soon. (1-2 years out)
