The immense size of the universe, it's basically impossible that there's no other life out there somewhere. I'm not saying there's evolved beings flying around in spaceships, but I have never understood how some people absolutely could not fathom life outside of our planet, there are those people who just refuse to believe it
I agree, but this opinion seems to have shifted in the last decade or so. I think most people today would say aliens must exist. We undoubtedly are going to find proof at least microbial life used to exist on Mars when humans land there, if not sooner. I wouldn't be surprised if they find something more. Then hopefully/possibly/likely we will find living life on Europa. After that it's just speculation where we'll go, we have to get out of the solar system and start exploring. Humanity hasn't explored since the late 19th century, hopefully we'll get back to that this century.
This is going to be an exciting century, and with life expectancy suppose to reach 120+ by 2050, we should be able to see it all. A great time to live. A dream of mine (will never get it) was to go somewhere no one has ever been. Maybe my children and grandchildren will get to do that. If that Mars to Stay expedition ever gets started, I'd definitely want to be part of that.
