People on HF saying he's a good prospect but has had a ton of off-ice and/or attitude issues.

I guess the Canucks think they can control and help him.

Always like signing young players for free, no risk :)

Seems like he's got a bit of immaturity but huge upside if you can guide him through things.

If he gets hit hard or if he doesn't like something from I seen, he just goes after a guy and starts a fight.

Not what you want but if you can help him get past that and mature we could have a real steal.

Game @ Dallas:
- Had a pretty terrible start and couldn't really recover after going down 2-0 early. Higgins gave us some life and the Canucks played well after that, especially in the 2nd, but another stinker by Luongo was too deflating.

- Luongo wasn't given much defensive support but this was the 2nd game in a row where he let in a awful goal at a critical juncture of the game. Good for Lack to get a little warm up before the game the next day against Chicago.

- Hansen had a handful of good chances but just couldn't bury anything. Huge choke at the start of the 2nd period where he had Lehtonen down right in front of the net but was too impatient and shot before the goalie was totally out of the play.

- Other than some miscommunication with Henrik early in the game that led to a odd-man break for the Stars, Hamhuis was pretty solid again for almost 30 minutes of ice-time. Alberts and Weber were okay, not great, but Torts was able to give them some extra time when the game was out of reach.

- The Sedins were a bit better both even-strength and on the power-play but failed to put up any numbers. Once again, still not good enough.

Game @ Chicago:
- First half of the game was pretty similar to the one in Dallas just a day before: the Canucks were sloppy which put them behind the 8-ball early, but a good start to the 2nd period got them back in it (even though Chicago scored again). Unlike last game, however, the goalie was able to shut the door the rest of the way and the Canucks hung around long enough to squeak out a win.

- We didn't seem to have much energy, it looked like it was the 3rd road game in 4 nights. After losing several games that we probably deserved to win earlier in the season, it feels nice to steal one :P

- The 1st Hawks goal was definitely a softy for Lack (3rd game in a row where our goalie has let a weak one through) but he was able to bounce back and make several big saves at key times. Awesome in the shootout, as well.

- Yet another 30 minute solid performance by Hamhuis in which he made only 1 clear mistake (let Bollig get around him for a mini-break). Alberts surprisingly played a respectable 16 minutes.

- The Sedins weren't very prevalent again (and had sad shootout attempts) but Daniel scored an absolutely huge goal so I'm just going to give them a pass for this one  Hansen had a decent game but nothing to show for it.

Game vs. The Peg:
- The team looked totally gassed by the halfway point of the game, another big win that we probably didn't deserve. Don't want to critique this game too severely because the massive fatigue was obvious. The long Christmas break couldn't come at a better time.

- Luongo leaves the game early due to a groin injury and Lack was great in relief. It helped that the Jets shooters didn't really place their shots that well on most of their better chances. Still, Lack made the big saves, so you have to give him credit there.

- Big goals from unexpected sources: a defensive D-man and a bottom-6 grinder forward. Nice to see that we're getting production from many different areas. We need to see bigger numbers from some of our better players, but no regular is really on a slump right now.

---

Injuries have begun piling up, we have 4 important regulars out, but I guess it's the same for every team around the league. Luongo shouldn't miss many games, and based on the initial predictions, Burrows and Schroeder should be close, as well.

Another 3 games in 4 nights coming up after the hiatus. In Calgary on the 29th and then hosting Philly and Tampa.

Game @ Calgary:
- Pretty solid effort, especially defensively. Maybe not enough generated offensively against a weaker team, but that's probably nitpicking. Other than a 3rd period push by the Flames, the Canucks were in control of the game for the most part.

- Lack wasn't extremely busy but made nice saves when he had to. He looks very confident in the net and the team in front of him seems to believe in him as someone who can carry :)

- Sucked seeing Alberts go down like that, he was out before he hit the ice. The other D-men were forced to pick up some extra minutes and Hamhuis once again did a great job playing half the game. Weber still only got 14, which was surprising to me because it's a back-to-back situation and he seemed to be doing fine.

- 2nd line was working hard on the fore-check and along the boards all night. Played a very heavy game and weren't in their own zone for very long.

- Sedins were just okay, I thought they'd play better against a weaker team like Calgary. Not much consistent pressure but they did produce the big first goal though, what a pass by Henrik

- Awful, awful 5 minute power-play... Calgary put on more pressure than the Canucks. Not going to win many games when you blow opportunities like that, I think we got lucky in that sense.

Corrado called up to replace Alberts  can't wait to see him play. He outplayed both Alberts and Weber in camp but was sent down so he would receive a much larger role than being the 6th/7th guy on the big club.

Disappointing loss to Philly. But on the upside we got a much needed point - 2 points for D Sedin :D
