Game vs. Carolina:

Gotta be honest... I watched the entire game but it was so freaking boring, I didn't always pay attention. Just a few things that were easy to see:

- Lack was very solid. Didn't have to be amazing, but did his job well.

- Kassian was noticeable in a good way for the first time in a long while. Torts saw that he had some jump and rewarded him with extra ice-time as he replaced Weise on the 3rd line.

- Sedins still struggling offensively on even-strength. The power-play also wasn't as good as it has been recently but only had 2 real chances to work.

- 2nd line still driving the bus.

- We made Peters look like Hasek at times. :bonk:

Well deserved lengthy breaking coming up, don't play again til Friday when the Oilers visit. Bruins are in town Saturday night, obviously a big game.

It'll be interesting to see what Torts does with the goalies. Luongo will likely get the tough assignment against Boston but if he sits Friday, that'll be 6 days between starts.

I liked Hodgson but he wasn't a fit here, really. Never was gonna get a chance to play a significant role.

I really like what Kassian can bring, I think most people can see that all the tools are there. He just looks really immature right now and doesn't seem to "get it".

Still hopeful, though :)

he was thought out as a better version of lucic back when he was drafted

he just need to find the toolbox, will he do it in vancouver when he have to play on the 4th line? im not sure, however, as soon as the tool box gets together he's a very special player

Yeah, a player with his skill-set is pretty unique: size, good speed for that size, can be physical and has the offensively ability to put up good numbers.

The problem is that he was rushed into the NHL and AV really didn't like players who weren't two-way grinders.

So now he has a steep hill to climb. Torts wants to give him the chance to succeed, because he'd be important for us if he got his shit together, but he makes too many dumb and lazy plays to get rewarded with consistent ice-time.

Game vs. LOilers

- Definitely a solid effort overall, but I didn't think we were as good defensively as the broadcasters were saying. Our in-zone defense was almost perfect but we gave up over 5 clear odd-man rushes, including three 2-on-1s.

- Luongo had his best game in a while. Made big saves at important times, the best being his poke-check on Hemsky on a 2-on-1 which would have been a momentum-sapping goal because we were in the Oiler's end for the entire period before that. Nice vintage glove save with Jim Hughon's classic "great save Luongo!" call, too :D

- Tanev was a beast, he broke up two 2-on-1s before they got to the net (Hamhuis caught on both). Garrison was solid defensively and added 3 assists, great for my pool :)

- Our 4th line had a good game, they were in the offensive zone for all their shifts except one. Torts was able to give them about 9 minutes and Weber played about 13, important minutes when you're playing the very next day.

- Sedins really struggling 5-on-5. Not going to win many more games without them scoring. Hansen individually hasn't been himself since coming back from injury and he doesn't look like he's a great fit with them right now.

- I don't think I've talked about it specifically all year, but our PK looks great, I love the aggressiveness. 1st overall in the league :hail:

Big back-to-back game with Boston visiting for the first time since they walked away with the Stanley Cup over 2 years ago. As nice as this 6-game win streak has been, we've faced pretty bad teams. This will be a real test.

Kesler has been amazing as of late, I really hope he can stay healthy.

Also, fuck Boston I really hope we win tonight. Can't wait to watch the game!
