Nah, trusting bad news sources is the reason the world is in this mess. I read right of centre stuff, like Globe and Mail or the Calgary Herald, but that’s very different from bad faith ‘news’ outlets that exist to confuse and mislead, like Brietbart and Fox News, or the Rebel. There’s no good to be found in them, because they exist to lie and manipulate. We’ve learned a hell of a lot since the last American election about how social media can be manipulated by anyone with enough money, for whatever ends they want. Read everything critically, but don’t even touch the bullshit.

Just going to put this out there -

FOX "News" once cited a known satire website (The Denver Guardian) as their source for a nationally run story that folks in Colorado could use their Food Stamps to buy weed.

Yes, I know - it's just one example. I'm sure it's not the only one, but when a national news source gets their facts from satire, without doing necessary research to make sure they're reporting fact, it kind of exposes their inclination to stir the shit pot over factual reporting.

the facts may be true but that doesn't make a wall an effective solution.

maybe we need to change the way we look at these problems because the old approach hasn't worked.

If all these drugs come from the southern border maybe we should look at why drugs are in such high demand in north america, or why economics challenges make participating in the drug trade so attractive both domestically and abroad.

I don't argue with the problems the right identifies but we all need to try some more creative solutions. Common sense can tell anyone that a wall across so a large a border with so many remote areas would not be effective.
