Like fucking harper right
Like bombardier?
Fuck outta here SP. Your province, our province. Is hurting right now. And Trudeau has 0 plan to help us but immediately wants to get behind Oshawa. Bad news for Oshawa. But compare and contrast the Prime Minister's promise help to Oshawa's impacted workers vs. his recent visit to Calgary. Oshawa got promises of help within hours of GM's announcement. Calgary/Alberta is years into our crisis and the PM has been noncommittal with the real things he could do to help Alberta. Oshawa will loose 2600 job in a year's time. About 40,000 jobs have been lost in the oil patch since 2014 and watch for more layoffs as this winter's drilling season is lost because there is no way to get out product to market.
Keep in mind Canadians spent $17 Billion dollars last year to buy foreign oil.
So, the PM cancelled the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline after it passed the non-political approval process.
He changed the requirements on the Energy East pipeline such that the proponent abandoned the project rather than jump through more (signalled to be endless) bureaucratic hoops.
He has equivocated on his support for the Trans Mountain pipeline, giving moral support to its opponents, refusing to support the previously completed approval process, paid 4.5 Billion dollars to a foreign company that wanted to invest in Canada to simply go away only to have the courts find that the federal government didn't meet it's own requirements for consulting First Nations. This pipeline is on hold, possibly indefinitely.
He is currently pushing through bill C-69 that will make the approval processes for large projects more nebulous and subject to political whim than it is currently. (Please note from above that the process is already so nebulous that the Federal Government is unable to figure out it's own requirements.)
So, 2600 jobs is terrible. I wish those workers all the best. But when we see what the PM does to help those 2600 workers I ask that you keep in mind all he had to do to avert the 40,000 job losses in the oil path was to create or defend clear and objective requirements to let us quietly do what we are exceptionally good at.
The feds were sure quick to offer help to their vote rich southern Ontario but very little of anything to help Albertans.
