it's going to take weeks/months before it hits the level of Washington/California/Colorado etc

I guess, the states didn't have the issue of illegal dispensaries during legalization, as their laws and penalties were very extreme compared to Toronto's lax recent history.

Yesterday:
Though Toronto Mayor John Tory tasked the Toronto Police Force to execute raids on 5 illegal dispensaries, not only was that a small fraction of dispensaries, but 1 store reopened that day.


I understand a lot of people are frustrated that the government doesnt have their sights on legal store front dispensaries until April 2019, but Rome wasn't built in a day.

I hoped the illegal stores would back off.

Why would they though?
They can pay the fines, give up goods etc and make it back in an hour
The dispensaries here in Hamilton are pretty much constantly lined up
One place is 24/7 with a drive/walk-thru

The illegal stores will not be able to obtain legal licenses if they don't close afaik
