Man our PP.
I hope we keep tweaking or just go back to something simple loading up Garrison more often.
Should open up more options for the Sedins too through the box if people have to respect the Garrison shot more too.
Would be nice to see an Umbrella(ish) set up. Garrison up top. Kesler on the left circle, Sedin on the right, somebody big out front and the other Sedin doing the Sedin thing

Sort of.
He's not that slow.
Plus he shoots hard enough that he should be able to at least stun them a bit :D

You know, I dont mind if Garrison takes shots and they get blocked... that'll make them think twice next time they wanna block his shot again.

Good LuLer post game read again.
Keep posting those summaries, they're a good morning read.

This :) I don't get to watch the games so I enjoy reading them

Glad to hear it :) Didn't think anybody was actually reading them

Like Torts said in his post-game last night, they did good things but couldn't get a bounce. So many scrambles in front after a point shot which is basically what you want. I'd give it another game or two before a shake-up.

The thing we're missing is a right-handed trigger man to play the Ovechkin/Stamkos spot. We tried with Kesler there last year a bit and it was okay, but he's good in front too.

Our only two right-handed D-men, Bieksa and Tanev, can't really shoot at all, so those aren't options lol.

They could try going back to Kesler up there and Burrows (who we know is good in front) or even Kassian being the net guy.

Yeah, unlike Salo and Chara, Garrison doesn't really give a shit lol. He just lets 'em rip and I like it that way :D

Game vs. Detroit Bad Wings

- Both teams didn't really put out their A effort, everyone seemed like they lacked a bit of energy. Detroit probably carried the play a bit more but I thought if both teams finished on their good chances, we win the game 5-3. Lack of finish really killed us; Daniel could have easily had a hatrick, Burrows fanned on a shot right dead in the slot and Kesler missed the net at the end of the game off a perfectly executed set play.

- Our in-zone defense was really good, but again our transition defense looked shaky. Sometimes a point-man is getting caught in the O-zone, sometimes a D-man is getting dangled and sometimes the back-checker isn't helping out (like Burrows on their first goal).

- Even though we only had 2.5 chances at it, our PP took a step back and Torts wasn't happy with it. It's going to be changed up regardless of how many good chances are being created if there is no real production in the next 1 or 2 games.

- Luongo played well but he can't give up that second goal. Tanev definitely goofed on the play but if Luongo was more technically sound there, the puck would have just hit him. However, he did make a few big timely stops in the 3rd period to give us a chance late, but not much was generated offensively.

- Hamhuis is still very inconsistent. He's making some good plays out there but I still see some stuff that makes me scratch my head. Just used to him being much more solid.

- Torts put Burrows back with the Sedins and Kesler down to the 2nd line for a lot of the 3rd period to spark something but it didn't really work at all. I'm going to say it again :P If he's going to change up the lines, put Kassian with the Sedins for a bit see if something clicks. Unlike a guy like Burrows who can be slotted anywhere, Kassian is not very useful playing with 4th liners. He's a skill player that needs to be in the top-6 forward group to be effective. And if Kesler is going to be on the 2nd line, keep him at wing and put Santorelli at center.

Sedins have re-signed: 28M / 4 years = 7M per year. Full NMC included, of course.

Not a huge fan of the Sedins come playoff time but it's not like we can just replace them through free agency, nor are there these kinds of players available in the trade market (and even if there were, we don't have the assets to acquire them).

I'm fine with the dollar number as the cap is going to go up. Term is nice, as well; even if they start to decline, should still be ~60 point players by the end.
