because people bought something they couldn't afford lol.

Maybe that happens in the states but it doesn't happen much up here. Most people who buy a new car than sell it the next year buy a new car every year.

I bought my car when it was 5 years old and I've driven it for 7 years. Probably got another 2-3 coming from it too.

Probably wasn't a BMW/Mercedes/Lexus/Porsche ect though. I don't have a problem with used cars, I have a problem with people buying used luxury cars and thinking it's good, whilst ignoring the fact that a simple problem that would cost $50 on a normal car could become over $1000 on a luxury car that is around 10 years or older.

If you get a luxury car right off the bat you can drive it for 6 months and then sell it for as much as you paid for it.
My buddy's dad does this with the Mercedes that come out.
He got the SLS, drove it for 6 months, and then sold it. 1st one off the boat/line in Western Canada. lol

Depends how you go about fixing your problems.
eg: An oil change is an oil change unless you bring it back to your dealer who charges you 10x more than a local garage.

The only place where you would be correct is services. I'm not sure how much say a Mazda is to service, but we just brought in my mom's GLK (Merc) and it cost $400. I'd assume a service on any car would be atleast $100 though.
