Losing weight is 70% diet 30% excersie. Soo eating whatever you want and you'll see minimum results. Not that I'm an expert. Just passing along everything I've learned over past few days
I'd say it's 100% lifestyle. Attributing something to a diet I think implies it's temporary. When someone says "no I can't eat that, I'm on a diet", I think this person will eventually eat this again. And you know what they usually do. Aim to live a healthier lifestyle and you can still eat what you want (in lesser proportion) but still lose wait. I'm a picky eater, I don't like "green" food. Never have, I don't know if I ever will. I like bread, meat, and dairy. That's what I like, good luck changing it. But I can still lead a healthy life. I lost 40-45 pounds in just over a year with exercise and modifications to my diet. I didn't go on a diet, I corrected anyone who said I was. I simply changed my feeding patterns. I drink almost exclusively water now, if I'm going to eat unhealthy I eat smaller portions. I take vitamins to make up for deficiencies in what I don't want to eat. And to be honest I didn't do long exercises either. I had one day, usually Saturday or Sunday where I did a 45-75 minute workout, but for the most part it was 20 minutes of squats (75-200 depending on the morning) leg lifts, curls, sit ups etc. Some days I'd go for a run, but if I didn't feel like it I didn't., Now what probably helped me is I have fairly massive muscles in my shoulders, and pretty substantially muscles elsewhere in my upper body and arms from lifting thousand of pounds of drywall supplies every day for years, and the squats and leg lifts build a lot of muscles in my legs, so I had large amount of muscle mass that helped burn calories for me.
In the first month or two after I decided to change my lifestyle, I went from 235 to 220-215 Started May 2014, two months later end of July I'm about 215.. Then I hit a wall, and I lost 5 pounds the next 4-5 months, nothing was really dropping weight fast So December 2014 I'm 210 pounds. Made a few tweaks after that. Completely cut out pop, tried to drink less Gatorade and only water, and got serious about making my workout consistent. Every Monday I "reset" and started lower. I don't remember exactly but 75 squats, 50 leg lifts, 100 curls, 25 situps, 10 pushups, 5 minutes with the punching bag. By the time I got to my long workout on Sunday, it was 150 squats, 100 leg lifts, 500 curls, 70 situps, 40 pushups, 20 minutes punching bag, and a 3-4 KM run. I have no idea if this workout was good or not, I could have easily been doing something wrong, because I made it myself with what worked for me and what I wanted to do. And it did work for me. But I didn't change my diet anymore than I said originally. Because I like what I eat, and I'm not going to change that because I wanted to get in shape. I was just smart about it.
And I'm in good to great shape defending on your definition. I think just setting a goal to lose weight is wrong. Aim to be healhly, but to be healthy and still live life like you want to live it. I want to have a nice, juicy cheeseburger with enough fries to make me bloated every week, and fuck it I'm going to do that no matter how healthy I want to be. I lost 40-45 pounds in just over a year doing this. It was gradual, I think it required me building muscles in my upper body and legs (since muscle mass is one of the biggest calorie burners you can have), but it worked. And for all the things I'm unhappy with, I'm happy with this.
