to a certain degree I don't agree with you

Canadian standards for emissions are already way stricter than a lot of the big polluters so we're already way ahead in terms of emissions control

Also, Canada is already carbon neutral, why do we have to spend much more billions hindering our economy to reduce the world's carbon amount by <2% just so India or China can continue to produce as much as they want?

PS: climate change is real, but the cause of it being CO2 is highly debatable also the carbon tax has been proven in multiple countries to just be a tax grab and doesn't actually affect a country's carbon output

Careful. SP going to mock your school system now. And some other person with differing opinion will disagree and call you crazy.

TLDR: Climate change is real and important, but we can’t do very much about it, so why do anything amirite?

Also Canada, for our population, is pretty awful. Regardless of the fact that China’s emissions are so much greater, etc.

Winter for 8-9 months of the year will make our emissions higher you dolt. Do you even think before typing?

Gonna ignore that insane answer

Canada carbon emissions per capita: 14th worldwide. Top ten are primarily middle eastern countries, interestingly enough.

Population by country: Canada, 38th. Ain’t great.

Canada has set goals to reduce emissions and had joined the Paris agreement, and we are moving horribly in the wrong direction. The purchase of the 65 year old leaky pipeline almost guarantees that we will not meet targets by 2030, actually it's likely we increase our emissions

Global warming is already showing itself, I can just imagine 40-50 years from now...

if they put out the tire fire that is the sens, your emissions would be much less

savage

and I'm not denying climate change, but I don't think the Earth looks at the CO2 emitted at a per capita basis... we're 2% of the total human contribution

why don't we stop buying saudi oil because their per capita emissions are even worse than ours? just doesn't work that way in the real world

also Canada's emissions were already on a downward trend, so we're already doing our share and that's not even taking account that our forests are usually a carbon sink (source when we have bad forest fires)

the carbon tax certainly does nothing to reduce emissions, if it isn't all just a cash grab pushed by some, not all governments and "eco-friendly" organizations, then all the countries would pool their resources together and target areas where the money would go a lot farther at reducing the overall amount of emissions
