Again, i dont think Holmgren will move any of the offensive core. The only assets I can see go is Read, and then any D-man really, picks, etc.
Then again we know Holmgren doesnt care to move important franchise players.

Idk why he wants much offense (but via FA)
Voracek-Giroux-Harts
Simmonds-XXX-Schenn
Couts

Thats a solid top 6 imo

also Simmonds was one of our best forwards last year

The organization has made it clear that they will do what they feel is best for the team. Including letting top names go. IE: Carter, Richards, Bryz, Briere.

if he won't move anything of the offensive core, he won't get any quality defensemen

its that simple, quality takes quality.

Couturier to the Canucks might actually work out well. Would make Schroeder expendable, decent trade-bait.

Couts would fit in very nicely on the third line (he'd look great with Higgins and Hansen on his wings) then when Henrik is gone, he'll probably be ready for the 2nd line slot and Gaunce will be ready to be the new 3rd C.

Philly would be out a center though. I wonder if they've considered Coburn for Gagner, straight up. Edler would replace Coburn, Gagner replaces Couturier.

they have laughton arguably ready for the step. philly have a logjam at center

If he is ready, he can start as the 3rd line center for them. More of a defensive guy anyway, right?

Less offense, a sound defense, and good puck movement. Still has problems tracking on the ice.

So there you go. And I don't know where you see the log-jam at center for Philly... especially if Couts leaves lol

Unless you consider Cousins a strong contender for a top9 spot.

Think Read is primarily a winger, even if he can play center. Philly fans can clear this up.

If anything, the emergence of Laughton should make Couts more expendable... assuming they want a more ready 2nd center instead of waiting for Couturier to develop into a more all-around threat to fill that role.

He is a RW. And Laughton is still in Beta test as well. Lol
